The referee ignored Carazinho FC's protests and gave Ramón Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th match minute, Carazinho FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramón Silveira to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kiko Loyola couldn't finish the play. Ramón Silveira hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Washington do Nascimento who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Bernardo Quirino when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Anselmo Tasso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrick Rocha was relentless in the 37th minute of the game.
