Dedê Guimarães made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Elias Romero sent off a good shot on target. Geovanni Alcântara came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Jaiobazinho's Emerson Vaz. But to his dismay, Emerson Vaz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The audience was convinced that Emerson Vaz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovanni Alcântara was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. The supporters of Jaiobazinho booed when Ibirapua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 played minutes, Jaiobazinho's Alfredo Ramalho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Geovanni Alcântara came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jaiobazinho reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emerson Vaz in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geovanni Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 37th minute, Rafael Valle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elias Romero got free with Dedê Guimarães in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jaiobazinho's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Elias Romero scored to the left of an out of position Dedê Guimarães, making the score, 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Jaiobazinho's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
