With his leg Maurício de Lara managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Arranca Toco da Paraíba's Nando Goiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Nando Goiano got free in front of the goal in the 19th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Maurício de Lara was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The supporters of Arranca Toco da Paraíba booed when Catavento was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitinho Vinhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arí Alvarenga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Umberto Moura charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Umberto Moura the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Maurício de Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nando Goiano might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Maurício de Lara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nando Goiano ran back to his position shaking his head. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wellington Soares couldn't finish the play. Maurício de Lara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nando Goiano's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute, Wellington Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Egídio Pires's late challenge caught a Arranca Toco da Paraíba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egídio Pires helped the player get up and apologised. Catavento's Maurício de Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edu Alcântara in the 75th minute of play. After 76 minutes, Claudinei Matos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catavento and the Arranca Toco da Paraíba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 76 played minutes Catavento got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Matos. After a defensive mix-up in Catavento's zone, Nando Goiano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurício de Lara came out of the goal and Nando Goiano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Nando Goiano came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Arranca Toco da Paraíba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nando Goiano couldn't finish the play. After 85 played minutes Arranca Toco da Paraíba got a freekick which was hit by Juarês Neto. 89 minutes into the game, Arranca Toco da Paraíba's Nando Goiano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Maurício de Lara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. In the 93rd minute of the match Dé Dracena shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maurício de Lara showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nando Goiano took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Maurício de Lara. Maurício de Lara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Arranca Toco da Paraíba had played much better football throughout.
