William Peres hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute, Frédson da Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 26 played minutes Marcondes AD got a freekick which was hit by William Peres. Wilson Arruda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Sampaio in the 31st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Marcondes AD's zone, Umberto Mazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrézinho Quaresma came out of the goal and Umberto Mazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gunnar Otterstad came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the União Sociedade America fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gunnar Otterstad couldn't finish the play. When Daniel Gonçalves fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marcondes AD's protests and gave Daniel Gonçalves a yellow card for diving instead. After 36 played minutes Marcondes AD got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Gonçalves. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Umberto Mazza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gunnar Otterstad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho Quaresma having to interfere. Umberto Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Umberto Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The União Sociedade America fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when União Sociedade America's Umberto Mazza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 62 minutes into the match, Marcondes AD's goal looked a bit too open when Gunnar Otterstad came free, but Andrézinho Quaresma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcondes AD's Andrézinho Quaresma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gunnar Otterstad in the 66th minute of play. Jorge Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Umberto Mazza put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Andrézinho Quaresma. 87 minutes into the match, Marcondes AD's goal looked a bit too open when Gunnar Otterstad came free, but Andrézinho Quaresma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcondes AD's Andrézinho Quaresma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Umberto Mazza in the 91st minute of play. After 92 minutes Marcondes AD's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Frédson da Cunha who took care of the corner kick. After 95 played minutes Marcondes AD got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Gonçalves. União Sociedade America walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
