Nando Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frederico Gerber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nando Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frederico Gerber in the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frederico Gerber in the 21st minute of play forced Guayanas EC's goalkeeper Nando Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, one of SÃO PAULO FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SÃO PAULO FC. In the 26th minute, Albertinho Baiano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfredinho de Souza was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Guayanas EC's Nando Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doni Tepedino in the 29th minute of play. SÃO PAULO FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Vicente Cardozo scored to the left of an out of position Alfredinho de Souza, making the score, 2-1. Sandro Ribeiro lost his temper 34 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Tony Soares charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tony Soares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Guayanas EC's Tony Soares got a free kick in the 38th minute. A collision led to Guayanas EC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Ronaldão Matorin hit a great ball. SÃO PAULO FC's Alfredinho de Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save SÃO PAULO FC from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renato das Neves to make the kick off. Olavo Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Nando Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 58 in the game by Frederico Gerber from a close distance when the talented Nando Azevedo managed to make a qualified save. Guayanas EC's players were relieved. Nando Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olavo Leal in the 90th minute of play. Frederico Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Renato das Neves took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alfredinho de Souza. Alfredinho de Souza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-3. The Guayanas EC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
