Sandro Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Pena, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 47th minute, José Pedro Xavier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Toronto Team were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Narciso Pena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nilton Matos hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Salles in the 60th minute of play forced Toronto Team's goalkeeper Dedê Tande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Narciso Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Reis having to interfere. Dedê Tande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Álvaro Salles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 70 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Narciso Pena sped through Clube Atlético Marrento's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sandro Reis. In the 79th match minute, Clube Atlético Marrento was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Pedro Xavier to maneuver through the defense. Albertinho Lira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sandro Reis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. 87 minutes into the game, Álvaro Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
