Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rui Chaves kicked off to start the match. 5 minutes into the match, Willian Couto notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Caraiuva's Gerson Valadares. Gerson Valadares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 9 minutes into the game, Elder Figueiredo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caraiuva's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itachama EC the free kick. In the 9th match minute, Caraiuva was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elder Figueiredo to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Haroldo Nascimento in the 10th minute of play forced Caraiuva's goalkeeper Gerson Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Caraiuva getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Rui Chaves hit a great ball. When José Maria Valle fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itachama EC's protests and gave José Maria Valle a yellow card for diving instead. When Willian Couto came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Itachama EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Willian Couto couldn't finish the play. Laerte Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Chaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui Chaves was extremely unlucky when he, in the 34th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Albertinho Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraiuva's supporters rose to their feet, but Albertinho Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laerte Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Caraiuva's André Duarte got a free kick in the 39th minute. Laerte Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Chaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The supporters of Itachama EC booed when Caraiuva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute Silvério Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerson Valadares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willian Couto in the 47th minute of play forced Caraiuva's goalkeeper Gerson Valadares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Caraiuva's Fausto Queiroz in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Itachama EC's goalie prevented a goal. Elder Figueiredo might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laerte Catarinense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elder Figueiredo ran back to his position shaking his head. Haroldo Nascimento took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gerson Valadares. Gerson Valadares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Itachama EC's Silvério Azevedo got a free kick in the 60th minute. 67 minutes into the game, Caraiuva's Albertinho Terra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laerte Catarinense made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Caraiuva's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Willian Couto 74 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-4. Caraiuva's Gerson Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Nascimento in the 77th minute of play. After 82 played minutes, Itachama EC's Jonathan Gomes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gerson Valadares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itachama EC reached it. Laerte Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rui Chaves's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes into the match, Itachama EC's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Chaves came free, but Laerte Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Itachama EC's Sérgio do Vale got a free kick in the 87th minute. Henrique Moreira hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match.
