In the 27th minute, Tostão da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Amílton da Cunha was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 82 minutes into the match. One of Carijos EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Arrozeira:s goal. Luís Eduardo Guedes walked up to take care of the penalty kick. Arrozeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tostão da Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
