A collision led to Raposa getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Emílio da Silva hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the game, Acácio Leite was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Horizonte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Raposa the free kick. Acácio Leite hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Hélio Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aníbal Gomes having to interfere. In the 24th minute of the match, Hélio Souza got a very nice opportunity to score, but Aníbal Gomes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Raposa getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Hélio Souza hit a great ball. Aníbal Gomes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hélio Souza in the 36th minute. In the 41st minute, Sílvio Couto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Sílvio Couto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aníbal Gomes was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Horizonte's Bebeto Figueiredo got a free kick in the 45th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Aníbal Gomes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anísio Simões showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Emílio Severo kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. When Anísio Barral came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Horizonte fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anísio Barral couldn't finish the play. Anísio Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anísio Simões having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Anísio Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Horizonte's supporters rose to their feet, but Anísio Barral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anísio Simões breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 83 played minutes Raposa got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Vides. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flavinho do Vale got free with Anísio Simões in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Raposa getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Rafael Veloso hit a great ball. Flavinho do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Barral in the 91st minute of play forced Raposa's goalkeeper Anísio Simões to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raposa's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
