An unexpectedly hard shot by Evandro Simões in the 3rd minute of play forced Itajubaquara EC's goalkeeper Glauco Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aranha FC's Gil França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisinho Monteiro in the 6th minute of play. Robinho Santos hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Glauco Araújo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlinhos Meireles in the 12th minute of the match. Glauco Araújo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evandro Simões's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Isaltino Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Evandro Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 22 minutes into the match, Itajubaquara EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Guilherme de Amaral came free, but Glauco Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Evandro Simões came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Aranha FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evandro Simões couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evandro Simões in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Glauco Araújo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gil Moreira took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Glauco Araújo. Glauco Araújo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. When Doni Pena came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Aranha FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni Pena couldn't finish the play. Evandro Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Glauco Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Aranha FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luisinho Monteiro made a kick off. Carlinhos Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 59th minute, Itajubaquara EC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gil Moreira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Evandro Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 63rd minute Doni Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glauco Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evandro Simõess short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Glauco Araújo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Doni Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gil França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisinho Monteiro in the 77th minute of play. Evandro Simões could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Glauco Araújo made a huge save. 81 minutes into the match, Itajubaquara EC's goalkeeper Glauco Araújo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Evandro Simões. In the 83rd minute, Evandro Simões ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Glauco Araújo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Itajubaquara EC's Glauco Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evandro Simões in the 87th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Evandro Simões in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Glauco Araújo saved Itajubaquara EC from getting behind. Doni Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Glauco Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luiz Fernando Cordeiro's late challenge caught a Aranha FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fernando Cordeiro helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Aranha FC booed when Itajubaquara EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fernando Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aranha FC played a much better game than Itajubaquara EC and deserved their victory. The Itajubaquara EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
