In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Eucalipto EC's goalkeeper Zeca Schmidt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With his leg João Carlos Veiga managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Eucalipto EC's Falcão Moraes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 17 minutes into the match, Oliveira Castro's Valdir Pires sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zeca Schmidt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 21 minutes into the match, Michel Neto sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because João Carlos Veiga threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Michel Neto this time. 25 minutes into the game, Pedro Luís Britto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Zeca Schmidt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Donato Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Pedro Luís Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zeca Schmidt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Valdir Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Zeca Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Luís Britto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oliveira Castro's João Carlos Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erik Catarinense in the 37th minute of play. Valdir Pires hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. If Falcão Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Carlos Veiga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Catarinense in the 45th minute of the match. Falcão Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Donato Vaz came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Eucalipto EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato Vaz couldn't finish the play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdir Pires stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 57 minutes of play, Eucalipto EC's Erik Catarinense made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Carlos Veiga was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 62nd minute, Juan Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 66 minutes into the match, Eucalipto EC's goalkeeper Zeca Schmidt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luís Britto. The supporters of Oliveira Castro booed when Eucalipto EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Eucalipto EC's Erik Catarinense in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oliveira Castro's goalie prevented a goal. João Carlos Veiga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Erik Catarinense's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. In the 89th minute, Erik Catarinense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Eucalipto EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. In the 92nd match minute, Oliveira Castro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivaldo Gaúcho to maneuver through the defense. Jonas de Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonas de Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Oliveira Castro's Jonas de Amaral got a free kick in the 96th minute. If Erik Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
