Washington Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Canuma FC's Orlando Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Cavalcante in the 11th minute of play. If Josué Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Canuma FC booed when Indio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Siqueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Canuma FC's Orlando Zonta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Canuma FC from getting a goal against them. If Sandro Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber Lopez in the 25th minute of play forced Indio's goalkeeper Washington Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Indio were awarded a corner. Haroldo Donato went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 33rd minute, one of Canuma FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canuma FC. The score was 1-0 after a penalty in the 34th minute, where Indio:s Haroldo Donato tricked Canuma FC:s Orlando Zonta with a difficult ball by the left post. 38 minutes into the game, Laércio Fontes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Indio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Canuma FC the free kick. After 38 played minutes Indio got a freekick which was hit by Laércio Fontes. When Canuma FC's Ronaldo Borges in 39 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Washington Valle guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 41 minutes into the match, Indio's Sandro Siqueira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Orlando Zonta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Baltazar Tróia hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Sandro Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Josué Cavalcante made a kick off. Washington Valle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldo Borges in the 58th minute. Orlando Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Cavalcante, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Sandro Siqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Zonta having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Josué Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orlando Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Josué Cavalcante in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Orlando Zonta saved Canuma FC from getting behind. 76 minutes had been played when some careless play by Canuma FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Haroldo Donato was slow to take the kick. During this time Indio's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Indio's corner Haroldo Donato fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Orlando Zonta quite easily take care of the ball. Kléber Lopez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronaldo Borges struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Washington Valle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canuma FC. Canuma FC's Kléber Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kléber Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Washington Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
