In the 13thth minute of the game Celso Cerezo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Menezes's Patrício Cerezo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luisinho Pitta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Betão Saraiva in the 14th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Hames in the 15th minute of play forced Crisopolis's goalkeeper Luisinho Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The supporters of Crisopolis booed when Menezes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beto Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrício Cerezo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celso Cerezo's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. After 59 minutes of play, Menezes's Magno Araújo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luisinho Pitta was left in no man's land by his defense there! Magno Araújo charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Magno Araújo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 64 played minutes Menezes got a freekick which was hit by Magno Araújo. Patrício Cerezo didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Crisopolis's Celso Cerezo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-2 in the ordered_time% minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, José Maria de Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Crisopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but José Maria de Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrício Cerezo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
