The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dito Pontes during the 4th minute. Dito Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Ceara SS's goal looked a bit too open when Manfredo Valladares came free, but Manuel de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte da Silva in the 9th minute of play forced Ceara SS's goalkeeper Manuel de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute, Duarte da Silva made a precise shot to the right of Manuel de Queirós. Ceara SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Manuel de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duarte da Silva in the 15th minute of the match. Elias Gonçalves made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Abelardo Freitas sent off a good shot on target. Abelardo Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. The coaching staff of Itumirim protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and João Pedro Nascimento had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. João Neves walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Gilson Porto struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Elias Gonçalves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ceara SS.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilson Porto made a kick off. A collision led to Itumirim getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Fernandinho Quadros hit a great ball. João Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gilson Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Gonçalves having to interfere. Fernandinho Quadros hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. João Neves took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 64th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elias Gonçalves. Itumirim's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Abelardo Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 68 minutes, Manfredo Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itumirim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfredo Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manfredo Valladares might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manuel de Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manfredo Valladares ran back to his position shaking his head. Giovani da Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Through an outstanding action, after 76 minutes, Manuel de Queirós successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Giovani da Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceara SS's protests and gave Giovani da Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. Giovani da Cunha hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Manfredo Valladares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Manuel de Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th match minute, Itumirim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandinho Quadros to maneuver through the defense. Itumirim's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
