Fabiano Bittencourt struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Yuri Arósio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ajacio. In the 7th minute, vinicius's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Fabiano Bittencourt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ajacio's Ronaldinho Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Travassos in the 14th minute of play. William de Medeiros hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Ronaldinho Guimarães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernani Senna's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. After a rather tough play, Ajacio's Rui Mello got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Ajacio's goal looked a bit too open when Ernani Senna came free, but Ronaldinho Guimarães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Basílio Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Mello charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rui Mello the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of vinicius booed when Ajacio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldinho Guimarães came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by vinicius's Basílio Travassos. But to his dismay, Basílio Travassos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ronaldinho Guimarães didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ernani Senna went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 37th minute Ernani Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of vinicius booed when Ajacio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilmar Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, vinicius's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Bittencourt came free, but Yuri Arósio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. vinicius's Yuri Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabiano Bittencourt in the 45th minute of play. If Basílio Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half vinicius were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Bittencourt made a kick off. Yuri Arósio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Roberto Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the game, Murillo Baiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. vinicius's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ajacio the free kick. A collision led to vinicius getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Murillo Baiano hit a great ball. If Ernani Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yuri Arósio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabiano Bittencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71 played minutes Ajacio got a freekick which was hit by Fabiano Bittencourt. With a little luck, Ajacio's Ronaldinho Guimarães got control of the ball when Basílio Travassos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fabiano Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 89 minutes into the match, Fabiano Bittencourt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yuri Arósio. vinicius's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabiano Bittencourt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. If Ernani Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernani Senna in the 96th minute of play forced Ajacio's goalkeeper Ronaldinho Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The vinicius players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
