Belmiro Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Alagoano having to interfere. In the 12th minute of the match, Juninho de Almeida tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Juan Penha saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Piranhas's Belmiro Pimenta in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye 09 de Julho's goalie prevented a goal. Washington França did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Juan Penha 18 minutes into the match. Juan Penha made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Washington França sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in 09 de Julho's zone, Dieguinho Félix stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Alagoano came out of the goal and Dieguinho Félix tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Humberto Alagoano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Belmiro Pimenta went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Dieguinho Félix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Alagoano having to interfere. Dieguinho Félix took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Humberto Alagoano. Humberto Alagoano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Conrado Carvalho's late challenge caught a Piranhas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Conrado Carvalho helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Piranhas booed when 09 de Julho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrado Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball.

In the 55th match minute, 09 de Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sydney Macedo to maneuver through the defense. Egídio Catarinense's late challenge caught a Piranhas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egídio Catarinense helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, 09 de Julho's Egídio Catarinense got a free kick in the 57th minute. After having played for 58 minutes, Dieguinho Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piranhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dieguinho Félix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Humberto Alagoano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dieguinho Félix in the 63rd minute. Belmiro Pimenta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 67th minute of the match Conrado Carvalho completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Conrado Carvalho a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 67th match minute, 09 de Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrado Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. Belmiro Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Humberto Alagoano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belmiro Pimenta in the 75th minute of play. After 78 played minutes 09 de Julho got a freekick which was hit by Laerte Paraense. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the match, Dieguinho Félix had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Humberto Alagoano. 09 de Julho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dieguinho Félix was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Renan Magalhães hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind 09 de Julho's goalkeeper Humberto Alagoano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Piranhas's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
