Walmyr Nóbrega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelsinho Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Dedé Carneiro's late challenge caught a Timbosal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dedé Carneiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Assacaio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dedé Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. After 17 played minutes Timbosal got a freekick which was hit by Sandro Queiroz. Vicente Campidelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Nóbrega having to interfere. In the 21st minute Váldson Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elivélton Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rdth minute of the game Váldson Queirós who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Timbosal's Elivélton Gaspar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 27th minute, Sandro Queiroz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Timbosal getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Zé Roberto Silveira hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giuseppe Tróia in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elivélton Gaspar saved Timbosal from getting behind. Assacaio's Walmyr Nóbrega proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Assacaio from getting a goal against them. Vicente Campidelis in the 39thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Walmyr Nóbrega, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Vicente Campidelis struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Walmyr Nóbrega didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Timbosal. Vicente Campidelis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 44 played minutes Assacaio got a freekick which was hit by Richard Quaresma. Timbosal were awarded a corner in the 47th minute after Assacaio's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nelsinho Borges took the corner. A well done corner resulted in Sandro Queiroz drilling the ball in to score 1-0 behind Assacaio's goalkeeper. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Giuseppe Tróia was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Eduardo Paulista during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Assacaio. Inácio de Andrade stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Elivélton Gaspar. 1-1. In the 82nd minute, Giuseppe Tróia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Váldson Queirós came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Elivélton Gaspar could save by the left post. In the 89th minute, Gildo Chaves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
