The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Amílton Freire charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amílton Freire the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Assacaio booed when Amandaba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amílton Freire didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Assacaio's Gildo Chaves got a free kick in the 6th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Frédson Hames notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Assacaio's Walmyr Nóbrega. Walmyr Nóbrega was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Telmo Fernandez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Váldson Queirós in the 14th minute. A collision led to Amandaba SC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Frédson Hames hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Régis Dante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Váldson Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Telmo Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Váldson Queirós blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Telmo Fernandez having to make a save. Váldson Queirós recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Amandaba SC's Telmo Fernandez got control of the ball when Váldson Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Assacaio booed when Amandaba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delfim Paranaense didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Assacaio's Váldson Queirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Telmo Fernandez narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The wind increased when Giuseppe Tróia made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Váldson Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. Assacaio's supporters rose to their feet, but Váldson Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Fernandez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Amandaba SC's zone, Váldson Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Fernandez came out of the goal and Váldson Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Amandaba SC defense, Váldson Queirós kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Telmo Fernandez. The Amandaba SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Telmo Fernandez should have stopped the shot. If Frédson Hames had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Assacaio's Richard Quaresma got a free kick in the 65th minute. Marcinho Loureiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Nóbrega having to interfere. Assacaio's Walmyr Nóbrega proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Assacaio from getting a goal against them. Delfim Paranaense kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Walmyr Nóbrega made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Percy Sena sent off a good shot on target. Frédson Hames fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Nóbrega having to interfere. Percy Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Váldson Queirós in the 91st minute of play forced Amandaba SC's goalkeeper Telmo Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Percy Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
