In the 5thth minute of the game Betão Alves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colombia SS's Vítor Freitas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Betão Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Vítor Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Acácio Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the match, Acácio Marinho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zézinho Catarinense. Melquiades SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Acácio Marinho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Acácio Marinho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Zézinho Catarinense when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Acácio Marinho got free with Zézinho Catarinense in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 23rd minute, Paulinho Hermes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zézinho Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Paulo Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dráusio Saraiva struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Vítor Freitas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melquiades SS. In the 31st minute, Paulinho Hermes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dráusio Saraiva in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vítor Freitas saved Colombia SS from getting behind. After having played for 34 minutes, Luís Paulo Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colombia SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Eger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Melquiades SS's zone, Luís Paulo Eger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zézinho Catarinense came out of the goal and Luís Paulo Eger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zézinho Catarinense didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 40th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. Cássio Meira charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Meira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Melquiades SS got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Meira. Luís Paulo Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Paulo Eger to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Colombia SS's goalkeeper Vítor Freitas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Betão Alves. Vítor Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráusio Saraiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute.
