Abertao FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vitinho Urbano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Baiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute of the match Chicão Sampaio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Almir Baiano skillfully saved the ball. Elias de Barros charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinei de Toledo in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Fernando Secco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wilton Secco kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei de Toledo to make the kick off. In the 59th match minute, Abertao FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gernando Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the match, Anacetaba EC's Claudinei de Toledo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Fernando Secco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 62 minutes into the game, when Roger Cordeiro put in a rough tackle. Fabrício Mumbach hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Abertao FC's Carlos Fernando Secco got control of the ball when Enéas Arce tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Edson Carioca fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abertao FC's protests and gave Edson Carioca a yellow card for diving instead. Almir Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitinho Urbano in the 98th minute of play. In the 100th minute, Enéas Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Abertao FC's Chicão Sampaio tried to score from far away in the 101st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar.
