Luiz Fernando Meirelles yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fábio Lago got free with Luiz Fernando Meirelles in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luís Fábio Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fernando Meirelles having to interfere. Jardel de Almeida's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fernando Meirelles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Tião Santana struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Fernando Vander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Prado. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Fred de Souza charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fred de Souza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Prado's Fred de Souza got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Jardel de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cordozal SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jardel de Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fernando Meirelles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernando Vander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tião Santana in the 63rd minute of play. Tião Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Fernando Vander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the game, Hamílton Branco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Prado's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cordozal SC the free kick. The supporters of Cordozal SC booed when Prado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Prado's Luiz Fernando Meirelles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fábio Lago in the 80th minute of play. If Luís Fábio Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fernando Meirelles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jardel de Almeida, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Luiz Fernando Meirelles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Lago in the 84th minute of play. Fabrício Campidelis charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabrício Campidelis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Prado players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cordozal SC.
