Coitezeira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dagoberto Félix was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. When Vivaldo Gaspar came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Coitezeira fans jumped to their feet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cacá Martins in the 28th minute of play forced Coitezeira's goalkeeper Juvenal Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
