Júlio Alagoano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Emílio Barral came out and tried to block the shot, but Júlio Alagoano slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 6th minute. If Júlio Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Ibitura SS's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Alagoano came free, but Emílio Barral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Emílio Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júlio Alagoano in the 23rd minute of the match. Adalberto Vander blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabrício Guimarães having to make a save. 29 minutes into the match, Ibitura SS's Adalberto Vander sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabrício Guimarães narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Ibitura SS getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Kiko Veiga hit a great ball. Erivaldo Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emílio Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júlio Alagoano in the 44th minute of the match. The supporters of Ibitura SS booed when Gremios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gremios's goalkeeper Fabrício Guimarães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Júlio Alagoano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cléber Paes took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emílio Barral. Emílio Barral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After a rather tough play, Ibitura SS's Olavo Cosme got a free kick in the 55th minute. Fabrício Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adalberto Vander in the 60th minute of the match. Nelson Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Fabrício Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Vander in the 64th minute of play. Júlio Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Barral having to interfere. In the 71stth minute of the game Adalberto Vander who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gremios's Fabrício Guimarães was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Erivaldo Peres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, Ibitura SS's Fabrício Guimarães threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adalberto Vander, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Adalberto Vander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ibitura SS's Adalberto Vander in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gremios's goalie prevented a goal. If Cléber Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, João Carlos Machado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
