The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Acácio Teles made a kick off. Amauri Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Haroldo de Lara having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Vergel AD's zone, Sydney Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo de Lara came out of the goal and Sydney Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Sydney Gomes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Haroldo de Lara was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Sydney Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Haroldo de Lara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amauri Sarmento's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
