In the 9th minute of the match Ianatama FC got a corner. Goitacazes FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. A wasted opportunity for Ianatama FC. Pedro Luiz Mello scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Fábio Zilles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 99th minute there was a penalty for Ianatama FC. Raí Macedo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Duda Veloso. 2-1. Goitacazes FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
