Sentinela's supporters rose to their feet, but Basílio Maia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Cássio Lara made a huge save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flavinho Maciel to strike the kick off in the second half. If Nilton Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, João Vítor de Queirós successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
