The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Zézinho Berger dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dráuzio Monteiro, 1-0. After 9 minutes, Igor Mandrak mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gritos and the Cururupu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Igor Mandrak kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 10th minute, Adriano Dias sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Gritos's Miguel Esteves didn't even have to move. Gritos's Bebeto de Castro shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 15th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dráuzio Monteiro but with some difficulty. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Zézinho Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gritos's supporters rose to their feet, but Zézinho Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dráuzio Monteiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidnei Novaes charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sidnei Novaes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Zézinho Berger came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Gritos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Berger couldn't finish the play. Ramón Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 26 played minutes Cururupu got a freekick which was hit by Kaká Prestes. In the 27th minute, Diogo Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diogo Azevedo during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Diogo Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Cururupu's Dráuzio Monteiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Cururupu from getting a goal against them. Miguel Esteves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diogo Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Diogo Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Breno Goiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Miguel Esteves made a huge save. Miguel Esteves had in the 56thth minute some difficulties stopping Adriano Dias's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Zézinho Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 64 minutes of play Gritos's Igor Mandrak was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 65 played minutes Gritos got a freekick which was hit by Igor Mandrak. Ramón Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Dráuzio Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ramón Correia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dráuzio Monteiro having to make a save. Luiz Eduardo Macedo charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Eduardo Macedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 82nd match minute, Cururupu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Eduardo Macedo to maneuver through the defense. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gritos's goalkeeper Miguel Esteves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gritos's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
