Júnior Freitas was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 9th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emílio Teixeira in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilton Dante saved Juliapolis EC from getting behind. Délio Maranhense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 16 minutes into the match, Juliapolis EC's goal looked a bit too open when Emílio Teixeira came free, but Wilton Dante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Wilton Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Délio Maranhense came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Tuounare fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Délio Maranhense couldn't finish the play. Délio Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Wilton Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilton Dante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emílio Teixeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Wilton Dante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emílio Teixeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emílio Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélder da Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hélder da Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Wilton Dante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emílio Teixeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Zézinho Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, Juliapolis EC's Wágner Andrade broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. João Carlos Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Augusto Luz in the 58th minute of the match. After 60 minutes of play, Juliapolis EC's Carlos Augusto Luz made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Carlos Neto was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Quirino in the 65th minute of play forced Tuounare's goalkeeper João Carlos Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Tuounare getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Fábio Barbosa hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Tuounare's zone, Flavinho Quirino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Carlos Neto came out of the goal and Flavinho Quirino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes into the match, Juliapolis EC's goalkeeper Wilton Dante had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Délio Maranhense. In the 84th minute, Ivo do Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emílio Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 89 minutes into the match, Carlos Augusto Luz notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Tuounare's João Carlos Neto. João Carlos Neto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 93rd minute Carlos Augusto Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
