The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Buzios EC's zone, Carlos Eduardo Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Carlos Ortiz came out of the goal and Carlos Eduardo Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olívio Loureiro's late challenge caught a Buzios EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olívio Loureiro helped the player get up and apologised. Acácio do Valle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Carlos Ortiz having to make a save. A collision led to Buzios EC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Maurinho Félix hit a great ball. Elói Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Ortiz having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Fernando Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juan Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enio Meira, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Carlos Eduardo Romero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Massarandiba EC's Elói Lopez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antônio Carlos Ortiz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Carlos Eduardo Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Ortiz having to interfere. Antônio Carlos Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Eduardo Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juan Marinho made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Tarcisio do Vale sent off a good shot on target. Buzios EC's Antônio Carlos Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo Romero in the 38th minute of play. Juan Marinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tarcisio do Vale in the 42nd minute. Juan Marinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enio Meira's shot from short distance in the 44th minute.

The wind increased when Carlos Eduardo Romero made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Eduardo Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Ortiz having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Carlos Eduardo Romero took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Antônio Carlos Ortiz to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Massarandiba EC's Acácio do Valle got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Massarandiba EC's Olívio Loureiro got his second yellow card of the match in the 67th minute. The referee ordered Olívio Loureiro off the ground. Bruninho Pernambucano charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruninho Pernambucano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bruninho Pernambucano hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Tarcisio do Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Massarandiba EC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Fernando Coelho hit a great ball. When the match was over Massarandiba EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Buzios EC throughout the match.
