Peneiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lavador the free kick. Nelson Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dadá Souto having to interfere. Nelson Leites short, quick shot in the 13thth minute got Dadá Souto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Agostinho Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serginho dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. When Serginho dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Lavador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho dos Santos couldn't finish the play. In the 20th match minute, Lavador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aílton Vale to maneuver through the defense. Arthur Andrade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dadá Souto having to make a save. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lavador's goalkeeper Dadá Souto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 39 minutes, Nelson Leite managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peneiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Leite was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dadá Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu Vinhas in the 43rd minute of play. Nelson Leite struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Dadá Souto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peneiras. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
51 minutes into the match, Lavador's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Nascimento came free, but Dadá Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peneiras's Agostinho Queiroz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Peneiras's zone, Leopoldo de Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agostinho Queiroz came out of the goal and Leopoldo de Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ademir Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agostinho Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Serginho dos Santos in the 66th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Ademir Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lavador's supporters rose to their feet, but Ademir Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agostinho Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Lavador getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Túlio de Sena hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the match, Peneiras's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Figueiredo came free, but Agostinho Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdir Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Peneiras's Agostinho Queiroz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Peneiras from getting a goal against them. Manuel Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lavador would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
