In the 4th minute, Fausto Bertassi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Renan Botelho during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vasantes booed when Cachoeiros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renan Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Sydney Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sydney Saraiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Braga having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chiquinho Paraibano in the 35th minute of play forced Vasantes's goalkeeper Kiko Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Sydney Saraiva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasantes's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Saraiva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Acácio Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erasmo Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Acácio Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fausto Bertassi to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Anselmo Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Sydney Saraiva made a precise shot to the right of Acácio Braga. Cachoeiros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Macedo in the 72nd minute of play forced Cachoeiros's goalkeeper Acácio Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Fausto Bertassi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kiko Machado. That made the score 3-2 in the 88 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sydney Saraiva in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Acácio Braga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vasantes's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
