In the 3rd minute Jarbas Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Valadares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Vágner de Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wellington Valadares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jarbas Rosa went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 15 minutes into the game, Josué Miranda recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Thiago Tepedino. Josué Miranda showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Vágner de Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, João Vítor Bueno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute Malta were awarded a corner. Adrianinho de Andrade went to the cornerflag to take it. Malta's Renato Neto was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wellington Valadares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jarbas Rosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31st minute, Vágner de Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Luna EC defense, Jarbas Rosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wellington Valadares. The Luna EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wellington Valadares should have stopped the shot. 35 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Josué Miranda came free, but Thiago Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Luna EC defense, Vágner de Senna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wellington Valadares. The Luna EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wellington Valadares should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the match, Luna EC's goalkeeper Wellington Valadares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vágner de Senna. Andrézinho de Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Vágner de Senna blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wellington Valadares having to make a save. Thiago Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josué Miranda in the 61st minute of play. After 63 minutes, Valdemar Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malta and the Luna EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Luna EC booed when Malta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jarbas Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 72 minutes, Breno Vianna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Luna EC and the Malta players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Malta booed when Luna EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breno Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Armandinho Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Adrianinho de Andrade in the 75th minute really tested Wellington Valadares's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vágner de Senna during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Malta's Vágner de Senna got a free kick in the 77th minute. Vágner de Senna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Wellington Valadares made a huge save. Wellington Valadares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jarbas Rosa in the 83rd minute. After 85 played minutes Luna EC got a freekick which was hit by Armandinho Vergílio. In the 87th minute Jarbas Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Valadares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Malta's Thiago Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Miranda in the 91st minute of play. The Malta players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
