The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Antoniao's Alexandre Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Vítor da Mata in the 3rd minute of play. If Ricardinho Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ramiro Urbano's late challenge caught a Chocolatal SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ramiro Urbano helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Antoniao's Ramiro Urbano got a free kick in the 9th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Chocolatal SC's Ricardinho Mineiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alexandre Brasil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Chocolatal SC's goalkeeper Caetano de Toledo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Clóvis Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano de Toledo having to interfere. Clóvis Mesquita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Caetano de Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Clóvis Mesquita came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Antoniao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clóvis Mesquita couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Chocolatal SC's zone, Eriberto Secco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caetano de Toledo came out of the goal and Eriberto Secco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caetano de Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clóvis Mesquita, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Ramiro Urbano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Clóvis Mesquita made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Antoniao were awarded a corner. Davi Sabóia went to the cornerflag to take it. Ramiro Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano de Toledo having to interfere. Caetano de Toledo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Clóvis Mesquita put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Caetano de Toledo. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Antoniao reached it. 84 minutes into the game, Antoniao's Ramiro Urbano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Caetano de Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. If Ramiro Urbano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute.
