Grajau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Álvaro Cruz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Toledo in the 12th minute of play forced Grajau's goalkeeper Reinaldo Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Álvaro Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Álvaro Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Grajau's Álvaro Cruz got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute, Emerson Matorin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee ignored Caboclinho's protests and gave Fábio Magalhães a yellow card for diving instead. In the 24th minute, Fábio Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Caboclinho booed when Grajau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 26 minutes, Júnior Tepedino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caboclinho and the Grajau players grew even worse after the yellow card. Grajau's Reinaldo Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Matorin in the 41st minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Álvaro Cruz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cássio Pimenta having to make a save. In the 54th minute, Conrado Matorin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cássio Pimenta was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Cássio Pimenta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricardinho Ramos during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Caboclinho's Ricardinho Ramos got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 63rd minute Conrado Matorin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emerson Matorin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reinaldo Melo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Caboclinho's zone, Tomás Severo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cássio Pimenta came out of the goal and Tomás Severo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 88 minutes of play, Grajau's Carlos Eduardo Queirós made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cássio Pimenta was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 95 played minutes Ricardinho Ramos rounded Grajau's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-3. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
