Olívio Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Pitta, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Jefferson Sá blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olívio Sabóia having to make a save. After some careless play in the Pricilio defense, Júlio de Barros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olívio Sabóia. The Pricilio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olívio Sabóia should have stopped the shot. Manuel Hermes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Braga in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Anselmo Braga fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Manuel Hermes, passed just outside the right post. Osmar Amorim charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osmar Amorim the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 22 played minutes Pricilio got a freekick which was hit by Osmar Amorim. In the 22nd minute of the match Osvaldo Neto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olívio Sabóia skillfully saved the ball. Júlio de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Arce hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Alagoano during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Osvaldo Neto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aroases's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldo Neto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olívio Sabóia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jefferson Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Pricilio's zone, Jefferson Sá stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olívio Sabóia came out of the goal and Jefferson Sá tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Júlio de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 70 minutes, Anselmo Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pricilio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anselmo Braga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 73rd minute, Aroases's Júlio de Barros dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Olívio Sabóia made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Jefferson Sá sent off a good shot on target. If Sílvio Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dalmo de Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Sílvio Alagoano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Hermes was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. In the 93rd minute, Emerson do Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anselmo Braga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 97 minutes of play Pricilio's Osmar Amorim was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 98 played minutes Pricilio got a freekick which was hit by Osmar Amorim. The Aroases supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Aroases would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
