In the 10th minute, Fred Cearense sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Tibi FC's Gildo de Amorim didn't even have to move. 11 minutes into the match, Tibi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Isaltino Coelho came free, but Gildo de Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute, Isaltino Coelho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lopei fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fernando Schmidt got free with Kléber Alcântara in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Lopei's zone, Gilvan Rodrigues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Alcântara came out of the goal and Gilvan Rodrigues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Lopei booed when Tibi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gildo de Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Gaúcho in the 28th minute of the match. Claudinho Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gildo de Amorim having to interfere. Gildo de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Gaúcho in the 40th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fernando Schmidt got free with Kléber Alcântara in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Amauri Antunes's late challenge caught a Lopei's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
