After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Válbson Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paredes's supporters rose to their feet, but Válbson Miranda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ademar Cearense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Frades's Ademar Cearense got control of the ball when Válbson Miranda tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Paredes booed when Frades was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válbson Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frades's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Benê Saraiva 14 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Flávio de Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Flávio de Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 18 played minutes Paredes got a freekick which was hit by Flávio de Queirós. Benê Saraiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Válbson Miranda scored 2-0 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ademar Cearense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dida Prado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gernando Recife having to interfere. If Dida Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flávio de Queirós hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When Délio Moura fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Frades's protests and gave Délio Moura a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Paredes booed when Frades was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válbson Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Inácio Carioca to make the kick off. If Inácio Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Inácio Carioca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gernando Recife was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Ademar Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Inácio Carioca came free, but Gernando Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute, Válbson Miranda made a precise shot to the right of Ademar Cearense. Frades's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Paredes fans cheered their team off the field, for while Frades had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
