The Benjamim fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eriberto Passos should have stopped the shot. Kléber de Alcântara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eriberto Passos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Paulo Renato Alves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Serginho Rezende in the 32nd minute. In the 36th match minute, Benjamim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jairo Ceresso to maneuver through the defense.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hélder Veloso to strike the kick off in the second half.
