José Pedro do Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Afonsinho Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10thth minute of the game André Luiz Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmacia SC's Afonsinho Netto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio de Mendonça in the 15th minute of play forced Uniao's goalkeeper Felipe Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Pedro do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Afonsinho Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Pedro do Nascimento in the 22nd minute of play. The supporters of Uniao booed when Palmacia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romário Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If André Luiz Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Pedro do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palmacia SC's Afonsinho Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luiz Galvão in the 33rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Egídio da Rocha got free with Felipe Chaves in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Elias Paraíba kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Palmacia SC's Romário Fontes got a free kick in the 56th minute. Geovânio Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovânio Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Afonsinho Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Pedro do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Giuseppe Goiano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Afonsinho Netto. Palmacia SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 81st minute, Alex da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonsinho Netto was a little too slow when José Pedro do Nascimento got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 0-2. In the 87th minute Laércio de Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felipe Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palmacia SC's Afonsinho Netto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Palmacia SC from getting a goal against them. André Luiz Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Uniao eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
