When Mário de Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Garapa AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mário de Andrade couldn't finish the play. In the 11th minute Dagoberto Mangueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Mário de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 14 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto Maranhense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tupa EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Garapa AD the free kick. In the 14th match minute, Tupa EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Dagoberto Mangueira ran back to his position shaking his head. Mário de Andrade succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 36th playminute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dagoberto Mangueira was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Garapa AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. Edvaldo Lucas struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Pedrão do Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tupa EC. Rui Silveira might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrão do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Silveira ran back to his position shaking his head. Edvaldo Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Tupa EC booed when Garapa AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luís Ramalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rui Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedrinho Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. When Garapa AD's Dagoberto Mangueira in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Garapa AD's Pedrão do Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Garapa AD from getting a goal against them. Garapa AD's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
