Geovani Paraíba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Parnaiba SS getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ian de Sena hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, Josué de Barros fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of João Adolfo Braga, passed just outside the right post. In the 24th match minute, Mergulhao FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. João Adolfo Braga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josué de Barros in the 27th minute of play. Elano Pinheiro hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Vivaldo de Souza charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vivaldo de Souza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eriberto Linares succeeded in the game's 41st minute to get real power on a long shot . Parnaiba SS's Geovani Paraíba hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-1! Waldir Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Geovani Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Geovani Paraíba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldir Cearense in the 49th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Josué de Barros was the one to do the kick off. If Josué de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovani Paraíba made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Waldir Cearense sent off a good shot on target. After 70 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Parnaiba SS! In the 72nd minute there was a penalty for Mergulhao FC. Eriberto Linares stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Geovani Paraíba. 0-2. In the 79th minute, Percy dos Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dorian de Souza took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for João Adolfo Braga. Mergulhao FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Dracena in the 84th minute of play forced Parnaiba SS's goalkeeper Geovani Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the game, Elder Prado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Parnaiba SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mergulhao FC the free kick. In the 85th minute, Elder Prado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Mergulhao FC's Guga Soeiro got a free kick in the 89th minute. Cássio Vidal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Mergulhao FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
