Itabirinha SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Celso Ribeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulisses da Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Celso Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimir Amaral in the 13th minute of play forced Chilelandia's goalkeeper Ulisses da Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiago Cunha during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vladimir Amaral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulisses da Silva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play.
