Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Eliseu Amaral made the kick off and thus started the match. 5 minutes into the game, João Francisco Alagoano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Castanho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guaiba the free kick. The supporters of Guaiba booed when Castanho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Francisco Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute, Laércio Messias ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Falcão Meireles was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Sidnei de Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Fiori Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 13 played minutes Castanho got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Amaral. 27 minutes into the match, Guaiba's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseu Amaral came free, but Fiori Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Eliseu Amaral notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Guaiba's Fiori Araújo. Fiori Araújo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 34th minute, Marcinho Cabral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laércio Messias's late challenge caught a Castanho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laércio Messias helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Castanho booed when Guaiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Mazinho Pirani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Castanho's Clóvis Britto tried to score from far away in the 40th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Eliseu Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fiori Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The long shot by Walmyr Neiva in the 45th minute really tested Fiori Araújo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Sidnei de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castanho's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidnei de Alcântara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fiori Araújo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Guaiba's Laércio Messias got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ramiro Veloso struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Falcão Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaiba. When Laércio Messias was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 66 minutes had been played. The supporters of Castanho booed when Guaiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 98 minutes, Eliseu Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Castanho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseu Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Castanho players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
