Joélson Vidal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Raí Brito made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Wilson Quaresma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barreirinhas SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilson Quaresma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Mumbach breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Barreirinhas SC's Wilson Quaresma got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 13 minutes of play, Barreirinhas SC's Luiz Paulo Travassos made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sérgio Mumbach was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Wilson Quaresma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 played minutes, Barreirinhas SC's Enéas Arósio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sérgio Mumbach came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Barreirinhas SC reached it. Luiz Paulo Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Sérgio Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Urucuzeiro SS booed when Barreirinhas SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Paulo Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the match, Urucuzeiro SS's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Paulo Travassos came free, but Sérgio Mumbach reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barreirinhas SC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Vivaldo Andrade 46 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vivaldo Andrade made a kick off. If Wilson Quaresma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 59 minutes, Wilson Quaresma made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Urucuzeiro SS's Sérgio Mumbach tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Raí Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vivaldo Andrade in the 62nd minute of play. Barreirinhas SC's Raí Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivaldo Andrade in the 64th minute of play. Urucuzeiro SS's Sérgio Mumbach proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Urucuzeiro SS from getting a goal against them. Germano Paraibano's late challenge caught a Barreirinhas SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Germano Paraibano helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson Vidal in the 73rd minute of play forced Barreirinhas SC's goalkeeper Raí Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raí Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joélson Vidal in the 75th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Vivaldo Andrade's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raí Brito was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. When Alfredinho Nunes fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Urucuzeiro SS's protests and gave Alfredinho Nunes a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Urucuzeiro SS's Alfredinho Nunes got a free kick in the 86th minute. Urucuzeiro SS's Sérgio Mumbach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Paulo Travassos in the 89th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Joélson Vidal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raí Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raí Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joélson Vidal in the 93rd minute of play. Vivaldo Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joélson Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raí Brito having to interfere.
