Leonel Diniz charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Natã Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guto Albuquerque having to interfere. If Jorge Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Araquari SS's goalkeeper Guto Albuquerque, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With 43 minutes on the clock, Wellington do Nascimento commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Itahum AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
