Gurjao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Eduardo Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Cléberson Dracena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gurjao's supporters rose to their feet, but Cléberson Dracena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dalmo Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermínio Negri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Afonso Cordeiro made a huge save. Dalmo Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cléberson Dracena in the 15th minute of play. If Luís Eduardo Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléberson Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the game, Cafu Motta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itaguatins's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gurjao the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléberson Dracena in the 21st minute of play forced Itaguatins's goalkeeper Dalmo Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Itaguatins's goal looked a bit too open when Cléberson Dracena came free, but Dalmo Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cléberson Dracena took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dalmo Cruz. Dalmo Cruz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Luís Eduardo Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Dalmo Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cafu Motta was shown his second yellow card after 39 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Itaguatins's Cafu Motta got a free kick in the 40th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Itaguatins's goal looked a bit too open when Cléberson Dracena came free, but Dalmo Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Luís Eduardo Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléberson Dracena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dalmo Cruz having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cléberson Dracena made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Cléberson Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dalmo Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 54 in the game by Luís Eduardo Cardoso from a close distance when the talented Dalmo Cruz managed to make a qualified save. Itaguatins's players were relieved. Afonso Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermínio Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cléberson Dracena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Dalmo Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cléberson Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the game, Gerson Fernandes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itaguatins's Dalmo Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléberson Dracena in the 73rd minute of play. Dalmo Cruz made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Luís Eduardo Cardoso sent off a good shot on target. Luís Eduardo Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Itaguatins's Dalmo Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléberson Dracena in the 79th minute of play. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dalmo Cruz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The Itaguatins fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gurjao were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
