Denílson Araújo hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Ulisses Corrêa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cícero Costa in the 15th minute of the match. Gilberto Pinheiro scored 1-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diamantino Lara, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 29 minutes into the match, Ligeiro EC's Ulisses Corrêa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diamantino Lara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cícero Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João do Vale having to interfere. If Cícero Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the match, Ligeiro EC's goal looked a bit too open when Caco Fernandez came free, but João do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Ulisses Corrêa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 45 minutes, Cícero Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pitanga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cícero Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ligeiro EC's zone, Denílson Araújo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João do Vale came out of the goal and Denílson Araújo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 54th minute, Caco Fernandez fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Ligeiro EC's João do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Fernandez in the 58th minute of play. Caco Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. João do Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Ulisses Corrêa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Caco Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Pitanga's Caco Fernandez in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ligeiro EC's goalie prevented a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Pitanga's Caco Fernandez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of João do Vale. That made the score 1-1 after 83 minutes of play. João do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Fernandez in the 93rd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
