Egídio Torres who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Juarês Vides when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Canal EC booed when Amorim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silas Gaúcho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Inácio Vieira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eusébio de Mendonça went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Eusébio de Mendonça took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Inácio Vieira. Inácio Vieira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After having played for 22 minutes, Vladimir de Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canal EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimir de Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Silas Gaúcho struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Inácio Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Amorim. Egídio Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Vides having to interfere. Eusébio de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Afonsinho Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vladimir de Carvalho might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juarês Vides. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vladimir de Carvalho ran back to his position shaking his head. 39 minutes into the game, Egídio Torres recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Juarês Vides. Egídio Torres showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Amorim's Eusébio de Mendonça got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Afonsinho Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Amorim's Sílvio Luís Queirós got a free kick in the 74th minute. Eusébio de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Vieira having to interfere. Inácio Vieira was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Eusébio de Mendonça capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eusébio de Mendonça really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. 87 minutes into the match, Canal EC's Egídio Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juarês Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Afonsinho Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Vieira having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Vladimir de Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juarês Vides was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Afonsinho Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Inácio Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
