The supporters of Marapicu booed when Lagoa Danta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute, Kauan Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gino Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Paulo Santos in the 21st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Erivaldo Fonseca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gino Mendes was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. In the 26th match minute, Marapicu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Neves to maneuver through the defense. After 27 minutes of play, Lagoa Danta's João Paulo Santos made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Carlos Netto was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Eduardo Gaúcho in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Váldson Moreno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lagoa Danta's Váldson Moreno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Eduardo Gaúcho in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Reynaldo Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Marapicu's zone, Erivaldo Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gino Mendes came out of the goal and Erivaldo Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Marapicu getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Kauan Brito hit a great ball. Erivaldo Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gino Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If João Paulo Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Lagoa Danta's goal looked a bit too open when João Carlos Netto came free, but Váldson Moreno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Erivaldo Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lagoa Danta's supporters rose to their feet, but Erivaldo Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gino Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erivaldo Fonseca couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Paulo Santos got free with Gino Mendes in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Paulo Santos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 97thth minute, Gino Mendes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. João Paulo Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lagoa Danta's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
