The Espigao FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jerônimo de Queiroz should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Espigao FC's zone, Dedé Linhares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jerônimo de Queiroz came out of the goal and Dedé Linhares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Falcão Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerônimo de Queiroz having to interfere. After 37 minutes of play, Espigao FC's Valdemar Arantes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The referee showed Luís Massa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Espigao FC booed when Sede was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Despite being the better team, Sede failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
